New educational activity

The Tibidabo Amusement Park becomes the classroom with the best views of Barcelona with the Robotics Educational Activity. This activity offers students the opportunity to study relevant concepts on sustainable mobility within the magical environment of Tibidabo. With the collaboration of LEGO Education and ABACUS.

Description

The Tibidabo Robotics Educational Activity is a journey of exploration into technology, STEAM concepts and careers behind the Artemis mission to the Moon (arrival of the first woman on the moon). The proposal for school activities is inspired by this project and has been adapted to achieve a unique learning experience associated with visiting the Park.

Students will find themselves in the shoes of NASA engineers, scientists and, of course, astronauts. Through open activities, they thread the needle and solve similar problems faced by the Artemis team as they move towards the launch of the missions that make up the program.

These activities will be carried out in the CreaTibi space of the Tibidabo Amusement Park with the resources of the robot room and other LEGO® Education materials.

This activity is aimed at all educational centers in Catalonia and covers the following courses:

  • Initial primary school cycle
  • Middle school cycle
  • Upper primary school cycle
  • ESO (from 1st to 4th)

Content

The program is driven by LEGO® Education's commitment to learning through play and exposing students to all the possibilities that the future could offer.

The program is adapted depending on the school year and is designed for:

  • To encourage students who are thinkers, innovators and problem solvers.
  • Connect the classrooms to the Artemis Mission.
  • Encourage students to be inspired by NASA teams.
  • Allow students to demonstrate engineering design skills and STEAM practices in accordance with the new competencies proposed by the LOMLOE curriculum.
  • Create a connection between space exploration and what can be done on earth to improve living conditions and preserve the planet.

Goals

  • Develop problem-solving skills.
  • Understand programming and computational thinking.
  • Foster creativity and innovation.
  • Improve collaboration skills.
  • Stimulate interest in science and technology.

Calendar

Groups

Groups can be from 24 to 32 students, and Tibidabo will host a maximum of 2 groups each day. If there are more students, we will have to make different groups. For this reason, in the event that you are more or less students than the ideal number, we will gather students from different schools in the same group to be able to give the option to participate in the activity to more schools, adjusting the assigned date. Each group will have a monitor person who works at Tibidabo and has training related to Robotics.

Development

Each of the modules of the school training program offers:

  • Involve the students through a work session before the classroom. Mission information is given that introduces STEAM concepts to explore.
  • Provide inspiring LEGO® Education models with links to teaching units that can be completed before starting the missions to accompany student learning and that can be worked on beforehand in their classes.
  • Challenge the students with an open activity of 45 to 90 minutes that encourages problem-solving and that is carried out in the park during their visit.
  • Foster creativity and diversity of solutions through the engineering design process.
  • Find creative solutions to problems in the environment closest to the students.
